How many times have you wished you could turn
back time? How many time have you thought "I should have" or worse
yet "I could have"? With Darkhawk this can be changed because it is
now possible to turn back time! It is possible to go back to the
foundation of what makes the Morgan horse so versatile and great!
But, at 28 years young, time is unfortunately limited. Time has a
way of slipping past us and then you wake up and wonder why you
didn't take advantages of its bounty while you had the chance.
Darkhawk is a true living legend in Michigan. He
has been siring Champion foals for over two decades and those foals
have in turn been producing Champions generation after generation.
His siring ability is proven in so many different disciplines, from
showring superstar to giving safe rides for the therapeutic riding
program. These foals have done it all and are positive proof that
Darkhawk is an established institution.
Possessing rich Brunk and Government breeding,
about as up-close as you can find, he is a current link to the past.
His sire was 100% Funquest, a line known for sound temperament,
versatility and outstanding breed character. Hylee's Firefly, his
dam, brings the mystique of the olde world even closer. This
combination resulted in a true ebony color, flawless smooth topline
with high tail attachment, gorgeous head featuring a large eye and
small ear and breath taking movement. These traits have been passed
onto his get, time after time. Although, "Hawk" himself is no
physical giant, standing a stout 14.3, he has consistently sired get
well over 15.0 hands, some nearly 16.0 hands. Even at 28 years of
age, he charms visitors with his vigor and beauty.
As a yearling Darkhawk was shown extensively
in-hand with great success, always the standout with his
"blue-black" color and exotic looks. Immediately following his
yearling year he was no longer shown so he could be used heavily as
a breeding stallion by Sunup Acres, where his many sons and
daughters were shown and enjoyed for two decades.. He came out of
retirement in 2004, when he left Sunup Acres (his home of 23 years)
and came to Muir’s Morgans. Here he was quickly put to use in the
breeding shed. His foals Bea,
Ruby and
Toby, joined
his older daughter
Avondale
Sweet Rosie
and granddaughter
Sunup Larkspur who were already at the farm. We have since added granddaughter
Sundancer,
great-granddaughter
Tori and
great great granddaughter
Tinkerbell
to our growing
Darkhawk family. We have since added granddaughter Sunup
Sundew.
Although Darkhawk is in excellent health and
spirit we urge you to consider him now. We know it is a decision you
will not regret.
